I’m trying to use this period of enforced staying at home as an opportunity to enjoy life at a slower pace and do the things I never usually have time for: long leisurely soaks in the bath, daily yoga practice, mindful walks in the park, listening to the birdsong outside.
I’m also using it as an opportunity to give my skin some TLC and a break from heavy day-to-day makeup. At most, I’ve been applying a little tinted moisturiser, a dusting of translucent powder on my T-zone and a slick of mascara on my lashes.
But I’ve mainly been focusing on getting healthy, glowing skin by upping my skincare game (and ensuring I get plenty of nutrients through my diet).
I’ve been trying out a few new products recently, thanks to Naturisimo’s latest discovery box (which sadly seems to have now sold out). I spotted it while browsing their site and couldn’t resist the ‘Spring Glow’ theme. And with three full size products and two minis for just £19.95, it’s pretty great value.
The box includes:
- Evolve Liquid Radiance Glycolic Toner (full size)
- RMS Beauty Luminizer in Champagne Rose (full size)
- Inika Lip Tint in Rose Blush (full size)
- Antipodes Blessing Anti-Pollution Light Serum (10ml)
- Juice Beauty Illuminating Primer (15ml)
Blemishes/blocked pores and pigmentation are my two current skincare nemeses, so I was particularly excited to try Evolve’s glycolic toner and Antipodes’ anti-pollution serum.
Here are my first impressions:
Antipodes Blessing Anti-Pollution Light Serum
Antipodes’ anti-pollution serum is packed full of antioxidants, designed to protect skin from the daily pollution that’s part and parcel of city-living and brighten the skin by tackling pigmentation. Even though the current stay at home situation means I’ve been a lot less exposed to pollution lately than I would usually (no more commuting into central London!), I’ve still been applying this every morning to protect and brighten my skin throughout the day.
I was a little worried it might feel too oily for daytime use, but the consistency is incredibly light and it sinks in within seconds so you can’t feel it on the skin at all. I apply a few drops after cleansing and follow up with my usual moisturiser.
Evolve Liquid Radiance Glycolic Toner
This Evolve toner is another new addition to my regime. I’ve been using it a few non-consecutive evenings a week to exfoliate my skin and tackle the congested pores around my nose and chin. Unlike some exfoliating toners I’ve tried, it doesn’t leave my skin red or irritated, which is a big plus. I haven’t been using it long enough to comment on the long term impact, but it does seem to give me a nice glow.
I’ve had my eye on RMS’s luminizers for a while, so was sold when I saw Naturisimo’s Spring Glow Discovery Box included a full size one. This Champagne Rosé version is a lovely rose gold colour, imbued with very subtle shimmer. It looks almost glittery in the pot, but when you apply it on the skin it gives just a very natural, healthy glow. I pat it on the inner corners of my eye and along my cheekbones, where it catches the light nicely.
