REN was the first ‘clean’ skincare brand I tried, and it’s remained a firm favourite. As well as using high quality ingredients and avoiding common skin irritants, they have a real commitment to sustainability and being kind to the planet.
I particularly love their bath and bodycare, so thought I’d share a few products that I’m enjoying right now.
This is a lovely light body lotion, with a slightly spicy, citrussy scent. I’m trying to be better at looking after the skin on my body (which I usually end up neglecting for 90% of the year out of laziness), so have been making an effort to moisturise all over after my morning shower. Now that I’m working from home, I’ve managed to get into a good routine. This body cream is perfect for the mornings as it sinks in quickly and doesn’t leave you feeling sticky, so you can get dressed pretty much straight away.
This lightly hydrating body serum contains AHAs to exfoliate your skin. My skin is quite sensitive, so I just use this once or twice a week and focus on areas that tend to get rough skin or ingrown hairs, like my legs and upper arms. It has a citrussy scent and, again, sinks in very quickly. I don’t find it super moisturising, but it leaves your skin feeling softer and smoother.
Like most people, my hands are particularly dry at the moment. I always struggle with eczema on my hands during winter, but with all the extra hand washing over the last few months they’ve been particularly bad this year. I currently have about five different hand creams on the go, and this is a new addition which I’m really liking. I’ve been keeping on my desk so that I remember to moisturise them throughout the day and (combined with a heavier moisturiser at night) has made a real difference to the state of my hands. It sinks in quickly, doesn’t leave your hands feeling greasy and has a lovely but not overpowering scent. And to top it off, the bottle is made with post-consumer-recycled plastic that’s been pulled from the ocean – pretty impressive.
