I’ve been on the hunt for a good natural mascara for a while, but couldn’t quite bring myself to give up my ‘unclean’ favourite until I really had to.
When that mascara began to run out a few weeks ago, I figured the time had come.
I had read good reviews of the the Lily Lolo Natural Mascara and at £12.50 it didn’t feel like too big an investment if I didn’t like it. Luckily though, I do!
I’ve been using it for about two weeks now, so herea are my initial thoughts.
The packaging is very simple and minimalist. It’s nothing too special, but I like the black/white combo and the matte finish.
I generally prefer a thinner mascara wand as I find they’re less messy/clumpy (clumpy mascara is my number one beauty pet peevekh). The Lily Lolo mascara wand is quite thick, but it doesn’t deposit too much product on the lashes and I haven’t had any problems with clumping.
I curl my lashes before applying the mascara to give them some lift, and find I need at least two light coats to give them the definition and length I’m after. After a couple of coats my lashes also look significantly longer, and the colour is nice and intense.
I’ve been particularly impressed with the staying power – it doesn’t flake or smudge and still looks pretty good at the end of a 12-hour day.
My eyes also have a tendency to water as soon as I step outside, which can be a bit of a nightmare mascara-wise, but even though this isn’t waterproof I haven’t had any problems with it running.
It also washes off easily at the end of the day with my usual cleanser – no intense rubbing or special eye makeup remover required.
Overall, I’ve been really impressed with it and will happily keep using this in the long run.
